Award Ceremony The Golden Chef in the Kursaal Bern
On 25 February 2019, around 1200 decision-makers from the Swiss hotel and catering industry experienced how Ale Mordasini was awarded the prestigious "Golden Chef 2019" award in the Kursaal Bern. In a spectacular live cooking competition lasting several hours, the 28-year-old chef of the Relais & Châteaux Hotel Krone Regensberg prevailed against five other highly talented colleagues. He can now present his winning menu at the Tour Culinaire Suisse. Ale Mordasini, the best Swiss in the field, will also represent his country at the Bocuse d'Or Europe 2020 in Tallinn/Estonia.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin also mingled with the guests from the gastronomy and hotel sectors at lunchtime. The head of the Federal Department of Economics, Education and Research used the opportunity to get a personal impression of the culinary skills of the finalists in the Kursaal Bern. "The final of this competition proves once again the excellence of our country in the field of haute cuisine. I hope that this showcase will encourage many young people to follow the same path," said Guy Parmelin, paying tribute to the outstanding achievements of the six candidates.
